NOTE: This is a TEMPORARY WEBSITE ONLY, and is meant as a stopgap until the Main Website has been updated. Some of the notes are incomplete and many of the links will not work. There is still much data to add and conflicts to settle.

This tree has been compiled with the help of many contributors. Sincere thanks to all, and apologies to those whose information has not yet been added.

I have tried to verify as much information as possible but errors may exist. Individuals with uncertain details have a (see notes) label attached to their name.

If photos exist, they will be found in the individual's Scrapbook. Click the "ScrapBook" link in the left menu for a list. Scrapbooks can only contain a limited amount of text so I am now adding more presentable feature pages containing notes, photos and links. These pages are shown to the right of their Scrapbooks, but are presently very few. NOTE: The Main Menu (Top Left) will not work when you are in a scrapbook. You will have to use your browser's BACK button to exit or use the "Exit Scrapbook" link below or here.

Details and photos of individuals labelled as living are automatically filtered out of the Tree, however a separate list is available here for living people who have permitted or asked for their details to be published.

If you do find errors, conflicts or would like to update your line please let me know. Webmaster

Article by Carol Hanson (Arthur's Great Granddaughter) www.pacpubserver.com
Extract below:
....There are two photos taken by Ms. Hanson's great grandfather, Arthur Debenham, a court photographer to the royal monarchs in England. One of the photos is of a gathering of the families of King Edward VII and Czar Nicholas. It is believed this was the last time the two families were together before Czar Nicholas was murdered. Each person in the photo, including Anastasia, is identified in the margin. When one of the Hansons' two sons was studying at Cornell, his professor held up a book showing this last photo of the two royal families. The young Mr. Hanson went home and advised his mother to take good care of the photo....

John Worley Debenham

The photo was taken in 1950, and shows John with his three surviving brothers. From left to right, the brothers are Henry Temple Debenham, John Worley Debenham, Robert Wayland Debenham and Walter Edwin Ashley Debenham. It was taken when Walter paid a visit to England. He had emigrated to America some years before. Their oldest brother, Arthur, had died 6 years earlier.

The back of the photo has the name "John W. Debenham", Photographer, 182 Roundwood Road, Willesden, London, but the photo was either taken by someone else, or with a self timer. It is believed to be in the garden of Robert's home, "Mackaralls" (possibly Mackerells), in Kindford (or Kirdford), Sussex. Kindford does not appear to exist, but there is a "Mackerell's Common" at the north of Kirdford village, in Sussex.

With thanks to Tim Russell Gray (for photo) and Michael J. Debenham www.debenham.org.uk (for details).

It is believed to be in the garden of Robert's home, "Mackaralls" (possibly Mackerells), in Kindford (or Kirdford), Sussex. Kindford does not appear to exist, but there is a "Mackerell's Common" at the north of Kirdford village, in Sussex.

Professor Frank Debenham (b.1883, Australia) was a member of Captain Scott's last expedition to the South Pole (1910-1912).
