NOTE: This is a TEMPORARY WEBSITE ONLY, and is meant as a stopgap until the Main Website has been updated. Some of the notes are incomplete and many of the links will not work. There is still much data to add and conflicts to settle.

This tree has been compiled with the help of many contributors. Sincere thanks to all, and apologies to those whose information has not yet been added.

I have tried to verify as much information as possible but errors may exist. Individuals with uncertain details have a (see notes) label attached to their name.

If photos exist, they will be found in the individual's Scrapbook. Click the "ScrapBook" link in the left menu for a list. Scrapbooks can only contain a limited amount of text so I am now adding more presentable feature pages containing notes, photos and links. These pages are shown to the right of their Scrapbooks, but are presently very few. NOTE: The Main Menu (Top Left) will not work when you are in a scrapbook. You will have to use your browser's BACK button to exit or use the "Exit Scrapbook" link below or here.

Details and photos of individuals labelled as living are automatically filtered out of the Tree, however a separate list is available here for living people who have permitted or asked for their details to be published.

If you do find errors, conflicts or would like to update your line please let me know. Webmaster

Births Dec 1877
COLE Lilian Jane Islington 1b 255

Maud Josephine "Jose" Bridgen

Notes from John Bridgen:
Jose still alive in the early 1990's and living at 17,Hawksworth Road, Northwood, Middlesex.

Probably Maud J. Bridgen, b. Dec qtr, 1911, Hendon 3a 654, Mother Cole

Notes from Jenny Bridgen:
Jose visited New Zealand when Jenny was too young to remember. She had previously been living in New York and the Middle East, and then lived for ages in north west London. She is also thought to have had something to do with the UN during the war.

Cecil Bridgen

Notes from Jenny Bridgen: (Granddaughter)
Cecil emigrated to New Zealand after serving in the Navy and some time on merchant ships.

Cecil and Maureen settled in Wellington, New Zealand, in 1946, when Philip was six months old. Sadly, Cecil died there of cancer, about 1961, at the age of 43.

Victor Edward Bridgen

Probable BMD:
Victor Edward Bridgen, b. Hampstead (district) Jun qtr 1908
Victor E Bridgen m. Hilda M Lowder at Birmingham Sep qtr 1932
Victor Edward Bridgen, d. Hounslow (district) Dec qtr 1976 (born abt 1908)

Notes from Jenny Bridgen:
It's thought that Victor stayed in London and had a car rental business. He and his wife were quite well off, and lived in Eaton Square, London. Jenny recalls their daughter, Anne, mentioned having servants in her childhood.

Queenie

Notes from John Bridgen:
Harry's third wife Queenie had run a second hand clothes shop in Walsall and had a daughter Kathleen who in due course married Gerald. Harold referred to Gerald as having married Queenie who he said had nursed Uncle Harry. You will note that there is some confusion on this matter.

Thomas Barry

Thomas seems to have spent most of his life in France, as he has not been found on any census. Two of his children were born in Lyons, France, and his sister, Sarah, was born in Calais.

His wife is found in 1881, 91 & 1901 census, living with his sister, Martha. Louisa (wife) is shown as Married in 1881, but is widowed by 1881.

(Late Christening?)
HORATIO NELSON BARRY

Father: THOMAS BARRY
Mother: LOUISA

Possible Parents: LDS
THOMAS BARRY
Spouse: LOUISA TOWN

HOWEVER .... This was probably another Thomas Barry, who was living with a Louisa in Surrey, both born about 1840.

Alternate parents

c.1838 Ireland

Married Belinda Dixe
20 Feb 1859
Saint Bride Fleet St, London

Deaths Dec 1877
BARRY Garrett Standish 39 Brighton 2b 139

Garrett & Belinda had several children, but none are shown to be born in France. They had a daughter:

MARY ANN BELINDA BARRY

Christening: 24 NOV 1861 St Giles Cripplegate, London
Father: GARRETT STANDISH BARRY
Mother: BELINDA

but she was living in Brighton on the 1881 Census, so is not the Mary B. Barry living with Nelson's brother Thomas in 1881.
