NOTE: This is a TEMPORARY WEBSITE ONLY, and is meant as a stopgap until the Main Website has been updated. Some of the notes are incomplete and many of the links will not work. There is still much data to add and conflicts to settle.

This tree has been compiled with the help of many contributors. Sincere thanks to all, and apologies to those whose information has not yet been added.

I have tried to verify as much information as possible but errors may exist. Individuals with uncertain details have a (see notes) label attached to their name.

If photos exist, they will be found in the individual's Scrapbook. Click the "ScrapBook" link in the left menu for a list. Scrapbooks can only contain a limited amount of text so I am now adding more presentable feature pages containing notes, photos and links. These pages are shown to the right of their Scrapbooks, but are presently very few. NOTE: The Main Menu (Top Left) will not work when you are in a scrapbook. You will have to use your browser's BACK button to exit or use the "Exit Scrapbook" link below or here.

Details and photos of individuals labelled as living are automatically filtered out of the Tree, however a separate list is available here for living people who have permitted or asked for their details to be published.

If you do find errors, conflicts or would like to update your line please let me know. Webmaster

Vi later lived at Beaulieu Rookery, then Romsey Road, Nr Cadnham.

Notes from Dorothy Emily Hibdige: (My Grandmother)
Vi was thought to have been put in a foster home when her Father died in 1914. Vi and a brother (John or Jack?) moved back with her mother, Harriet, when she married William Owen Hibdige, (Dorothy's father). Then left home to live with aunt Dolly (Ethel May Bridgen), who was married to Dorothy's brother John (Jack) Hibdige.

Dorothy was put in the same foster home when her mother died in 1908, and were then both raised by William & Harriett as sisters. Vi always called Dorothy "Sissy".

Still in her childhood, Vi spent holidays with her aunt, Emily Francis Bridgen (nee Colwell), in Portsmouth.

Vi's brother (John/Jack?) died in London about 1992. She is also thought to have had a sister Ruby?

Vi's family tree is said to be found in the Priory at Beaulieu, but no trace has been found.

A family story tells that Vi's father-in-law committed suicide in a water butt at Warners Cottage, Durley. My father spent part of his childhood at Warners Cottage, and has a vague recollection of the event.

NOTE: Some of the above information may have become muddled over the years. Jack could be Dorothy's brother. He & Dorothy were raised by their mother, Eliza Jane Malley (nee Last) until she died in 1908. It was probably these two who were put in a foster home, and then went to live with their father, William Owen Hibdige, when he married Vi's mother, Harriet Jane Colwell.
