NOTE: This is a TEMPORARY WEBSITE ONLY, and is meant as a stopgap until the Main Website has been updated. Some of the notes are incomplete and many of the links will not work. There is still much data to add and conflicts to settle.

This tree has been compiled with the help of many contributors. Sincere thanks to all, and apologies to those whose information has not yet been added.

I have tried to verify as much information as possible but errors may exist. Individuals with uncertain details have a (see notes) label attached to their name.

If photos exist, they will be found in the individual's Scrapbook. Click the "ScrapBook" link in the left menu for a list. Scrapbooks can only contain a limited amount of text so I am now adding more presentable feature pages containing notes, photos and links. These pages are shown to the right of their Scrapbooks, but are presently very few. NOTE: The Main Menu (Top Left) will not work when you are in a scrapbook. You will have to use your browser's BACK button to exit or use the "Exit Scrapbook" link below or here.

Details and photos of individuals labelled as living are automatically filtered out of the Tree, however a separate list is available here for living people who have permitted or asked for their details to be published.

If you do find errors, conflicts or would like to update your line please let me know. Webmaster

Message from Alison Imrie (3x Grt Granddaughter)
My ancestor George FRIPP died in October 1862; according to family tradition "his throat was cut by drunk Irishmen" (apologies to any of Irish origin reading this!). I have recently received the following explanation from his great-grandson: "George FRIPP was working for the Dorset police force. He had to go from Weymouth to Portland, as there were a lot of men on their way from Ireland to India, causing a lot of trouble. He was badly beaten up and died two days later from his injuries." I would love to find out more. Can anyone tell me where I can find records of the Dorset Police from the 1860´s? And are there any newspapers from the Weymouth/Portland area that might have reported on the event? Thanks for any research tips.

The following article was submitted by "Heather" at: http://newsarch.rootsweb.com/th/read/DORSET/2003-02/1044125855
From the SOUTHERN TIMES, Saturday 18th October 1862 "SUDDEN DEATH. - Some time ago a police constable, named Fripp, belonging to the Dorset County Constabulary, was injured in the head in a fight with some soldiers, and he died suddenly last Friday, the injury having been, it was believed, the cause of his illness. He had been to Weymouth on duty, and returned to Portland, where he was stationed, by the steamer, when he was seized with fits, and being taken to a house adjoining, medical aid was summoned, but the poor fellow lingered only a few hours."
