Thomas was probably born in Dorset between 1850-1855, but he has not yet been found on any census return. His marriage certificate shows he was living in Puddletown on 3rd Jun 1871, so should have been here when the census was taken on 2 April, although his fiance was then living in Moreton, 4 miles away. A year later, they were living in Winterbourne Stickland, about 8 miles away, when their daughter, Fanny, was born. No record of any of the family has been found after Fanny's birth.
