ffebry 5 1695/6
This day came Richard Bennett of ffrip's Island And recorded his marke for cattle and hoggs as followeth half of ye eares cutt of and two peaces cut out.

May 12 1698
This day came john ffripp and recorded his marke for cattle and hoggs wch is a cropp and a hole in ye right ear and a cropp and a slit in ye left, being formerly ye marke of William MacFashion upon edisto island, and by him assigned to ye sd ffripp for all cattle and hogs on ye sd Island.

Notes:
It is possible that William MacFashion was William McPherson, whose daughter was the first wife of John Fripp Sr. If so, John could have gained the property and cattle as a dowry. This would also put the marriage date about 1698.
